Definitely try to get a job for MAC, especially in NY or LA. They have teams backstage at most of the big fashion shows during NY and LA Fashion Weeks, and most of the people on the teams are employees from the MAC stores. I have a few friends who started at MAC and got enough experience that they went off to do freelance makeup
